Solana Beach Wedding
Solana Beach is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 12,979 at the 2000 census. The area now known as Solana Beach was called Lockwood Mesa prior to 1923, when the original subdivision plan for the community was developed. The community grew slowly, but steadily throughout the rest of the century, with particular booms occurring in the decade after World War II and a real estate boom in the last quarter of the 20th century. In 1986 the community officially incorporated as the city of Solana Beach. While still a relatively tranquil coastal town, the city received national news in 2003 upon becoming the first city in the Continental United States to enact a smoking ban on its public beaches, a trend which has continued as many other coastal Californian towns have followed suit in banning smoking on their beaches. Solana Beach is located at 325943N, 1171537W (32.995393, -117.260380)GR1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.3 km (3.6 mi). 9.1 km (3.5 mi) of it is land and 0.2 km (0.1 mi) of it (2.22%) is water.
